I believe each individual has within them reservoirs of strength, compassion, resilience and hope. I also know at times these qualities can be hard to access and we can feel mired in stuckness, hopelessness or overwhelm. I work as a psychologist because I believe change is possible when people are able to tune into their profound capacity for growth.
I most enjoy medium to longer term work with those seeking to create meaningful and lasting change in their lives. I work collaboratively to design a tailored approach for each person that helps them reach their goals. My style is flexible and non-judgmental; and I create space to develop genuine therapeutic relationships with people.
Over the years I’ve worked with a diverse range of individuals. My areas of interest include anxiety, depression, stress, relationship difficulties, sexuality, sexual functioning, trauma, problem gambling and experiences of existential dilemma. I use a range of evidence-based psychological therapies depending on needs and preferences. These include:
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Schema Therapy
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Mindfulness-based approaches
Motivational Interviewing (MI)
I also have a specific interest in providing couples therapy. When working with couples, I draw primarily from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and integrate principles of the Gottman Method. I have experience in a range of issues including; conflict resolution, communication, infidelity and trust, sexual difficulties and incompatibilities, and potential separation. I welcome the opportunity to work with a diverse range of unique relationships and couples.
I am a Board Approved Clinical Supervisor with an interest in supporting early career and provisional psychologists. Click here for more information about my clinical supervision.
